Residential Addition & Renovation BLOOMFIELD TWP, MI
An existing mid-century slab-on-grad ranch home lacked storage space and had extremely small kitchen, dining and recreation spaces. The main problem with the existing house involved the narrow width of the kitchen and dining spaces and the presence of a third existing space between the kitchen and dining room that served no purpose. The goals of the renovation design were to (1) Provide additional storage and vehicular parking space, (2) Improve the proportion and functionality of kitchen and dining spaces, (3) Link the kitchen and dining spaces and provide additional living and recreation spaces that communicated with the new kitchen in an appropriate way. The owners wanted to shift the style of their home away from Mid-Century Modern toward a Country-Modern aesthetic.
